Ornos is one of the most beautiful Mykonos beaches, cosily sitting in the laps of Ornos Bay – a sheltered anchorage tucked away from the bustling crowds and the vibrant Mykonos Town nightlife. With calm, crystalline waters and a captivating andy shore, Ornos Beach is the perfect swimming spot for families with children. Besides, Ornos makes a dreamy destination if you are looking for experiences that combine the cosmopolitan nature of Mykonos and authentic Greek island holidays. Below are three reasons why Ornos is a place that can stir a powerful infatuation towards it the more you decide to dive into its profound and hypnotising allure.

Ornos Bay

Ornos Bay is protected on both sides by cliffs and buildings, with little wind and a calm sea for swimming in peace. Umbrellas, deck chairs and sun loungers can be rented at the beach. Ornos (like Psarou beach) has the advantage of remaining undisturbed from the winds even on extremely windy days.

Ornos Bay is also the closest beach to Mykonos Town and is surrounded by hotels, with many restaurants  and entertainment venues along the shoreline, while the beach is one of the most idyllic on the island. This popular family-friendly beach is a great place to stay while visiting the island.

The restaurants lining the beach offer excellent traditional Greek cuisine, such as fish specialties freshly caught from the Aegean Sea to be paired with a glass of Mythos, the local Greek beer. Many of the taverns and bars offer outdoor seating so you can fully enjoy the island’s wonderful climate.

Ornos beach gets quite busy in the high season, but if you love quieter places to swim, you can hop on a boat to a nearby beach. Many boats depart from the bay and offer charter cruises and transport services to the surrounding islands.

How to get there

Ornos Bay is located approximately 3 Km from Mykonos Town. You can also get a bus (2€ - 10/15 min.).

Paradise is a sandy-pebbly beach with a soft surface, clear water and calm sea. Many families with children can be seen during the morning. They’re attracted by no winds, smooth descents and developed infrastructures. Surfers, ships and beautiful islands that can be seen from the beach.

Paradise beach (called the “Little Ibiza“) is the most active place in Mykonos. People come here in search of noisy parties, passionate dances and sets from the best DJs. The main show starts at 5 p.m. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and cozy taverns in the vicinity.

Paradise Beach is the sea, sun, music, dancing , all kinds of entertainment and…a feeling of unlimited freedom. This “paradise” got its fame back in the 60s of the 20th century, when this place was chosen by hippies. And today, half a century later, life on Paradise Beach is still in full swing 24 hours a day. At night, the beach turns into one huge dance floor. This beach, of course, is especially popular among young people, but nevertheless, here you can meet vacationers of all ages.

In Paradise Beach, you will find the Tropicana Beach Club, where you can continue the party with loud music and have fun with its regular guest: Sasà! An Italian guy who has become famous in Mykonos for his sympathy and for his extravagant and skimpy costumes with his trunk! Sasà animates the party at the Tropicana every day and has become a true institution of this place.

Up on a hill on the left, overlooking the beach, is a large club, Cavo Paradiso, perhaps the most popular night spot in the entire island, attracting major international DJs throughout the summer.
